The Gilman Orthodontic practice was founded by Dr. Albert Gilman, Dr. Brian’s father. It first opened its doors in Hauppauge, NY, in 1964. The practice is proud to provide orthodontic treatment to a new generation of families. Dr Brian has been working in Gilman Orthodontics since 1983, and as regular orthodontic visits enable him to spend one-on-one time with patients, he has built close and long-lasting friendships within the local community. Seeing the fantastic smiles’ transformations is only a tiny fraction of the joy he gets from being an orthodontist!

Continuing Education

Dr. Gilman is constantly pursuing further education to stay on top of the latest evidence-based research in dentistry and orthodontics. He has taken courses in practice management, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, CPR training, and infection control.

Orthodontic Experience

Dr. Gilman has been practicing orthodontics since 1983 and attained American Board of Orthodontics Diplomate status in 1996. He has undergone extensive training in this field to provide orthodontic treatment that meet the individual needs of all his patients in Hauppauge, NY. He is able to foster lasting relationships with his patients throughout traditional orthodontic treatment (braces) and Invisalign treatment. Over the years, patients have become a meaningful part of the office family!

Family Life

Dr. Brian grew up in Glen Cove, NY, and has lived in East Northport since 1996. He married Dr. Bonnie L. Yellin, his companion in life and profession, and together they have three wonderful children, Jordana, Jonathan, and Benjamin, and two beautiful grandsons, Asher and Oliver. When Dr. Gilman is not in the office, he enjoys running, weight training, and cycling. He also loves all the outdoor activities that Long Island has to offer, including spending time at the beach, hiking, and nature walks.

Dr. Yellin absolutely loves being an orthodontist! She feels incredibly fortunate to enjoy what she does every day and to see the positive impact braces and other orthodontic treatment can have in a person’s life. She gets amazing satisfaction by building beautiful smiles and especially enjoys the increased self-esteem and confidence that comes along with these new smiles. These positive changes stay with our patients forever, and the strong relationships she builds with her patients from Hauppauge, NY, last well beyond the completion of their treatment.

Family Life

Dr. Yellin was born and raised in Aurora, Illinois, and moved to New York to attend college and stayed to complete her dental and orthodontic degrees. She met her husband, Dr Gilman, while attending Columbia University Dental School. They married in 1988, and then Dr. Bonnie joined Gilman Orthodontic Associates. Together they have three wonderful children, Jordana, Jonathan, and Benjamin, and two beautiful grandsons, Asher and Oliver. As they practice orthodontics together, they consider their practice an extension of their home and family. Outside the office, you can find Dr. Yellin spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys running, biking, and hiking outdoors all through the year and also loves to read, travel, cook, do crossword puzzles and work in her vegetable garden. Dr. Bonnie recently became a Certified Master Gardener and has been volunteering in local community gardens ever since.
